About the study cards. Key claims come with a screenshot of the published study from PubMed, with the finding highlighted. Educational only, not medical advice. Keep using any treatment your dermatologist prescribed.

01 · The science

What's happening in a breakout.

Every pimple goes through the same four steps.

Four stages of a breakout
1 · Extra oilHormones, blood sugar and insulin turn up oil.
2 · CloggingDead skin cells plug the pore.
3 · BacteriaSkin bacteria multiply in trapped oil.
4 · InflammationThe immune system reacts: the red, sore part.
Steps 1 and 4 are where your gut, your blood sugar and your diet come in.

02 · The science

Your skin is listening to your gut.

Researchers call it the gut–skin axis. When gut bacteria are balanced and the lining is sealed, inflammation stays low. When they're out of balance and the lining leaks, inflammatory signals travel through the body, and skin is one of the places they show up.

Balanced gut vs. imbalanced gut and skin
PubMed abstract, study 1

What it means: This widely cited review describes gut bacteria as one of the main regulators of the skin.

03 · The evidence

What the research shows.

PubMed abstract, study 2

Acne: People with acne had less diverse gut bacteria and fewer beneficial types. This shows a link, not proof that the gut causes acne.

PubMed abstract, study 3

Rosacea: People with rosacea were far more likely to have small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (46% vs 5%). When it was cleared, skin cleared in 20 of 28 and greatly improved in 6 more. The doctors rating skin knew who was treated, so treat this as promising, not final.

04 · Trigger 1

Blood sugar turns up oil.

Fast-digesting carbs spike blood sugar and insulin, which raises a growth hormone called IGF-1. That tells oil glands to make more oil and skin cells to stick together.

PubMed abstract, study 4

What it means: In a 12-week randomized trial, a low-glycemic diet cut lesion counts about twice as much as the control diet (−23.5 vs −12.0). Participants also lost some weight, which may have helped.

Instead of Try
White bread, bagels Sourdough or whole-grain, or skip
Sugary cereal, juice Eggs, berries, oats
Soda, sweet coffee drinks Sparkling water, unsweetened tea
Carbs on their own Carbs with protein, fat and fiber

05 · Trigger 2

Dairy, especially milk.

Milk contains natural hormones and growth factors, and it raises IGF-1.

PubMed abstract, study 5

What it means: Across 14 studies and 78,529 people, dairy was linked to higher odds of acne. These are associations, which is why we suggest a test, not a lifetime ban.

The dairy test. Go dairy-free for 8 weeks. In Phase 3, add one dairy food back for 3 to 5 days and watch your skin.

06 · Trigger 3

Missing nutrients.

PubMed abstract, study 6

Zinc: People with acne had lower zinc, and zinc treatment reduced inflamed spots. Find it in oysters, beef, pumpkin seeds and chickpeas. The Microbiome Balance Formula also contains 25 mg.

PubMed abstract, study 7

Omega-3s: In a 10-week randomized trial, omega-3s reduced both inflamed and non-inflamed acne. Eat salmon, sardines, mackerel or walnuts 2 to 3 times a week.

07 · Trigger 4

Your gut barrier.

When the gut lining's tight seals loosen, bits of bacteria and food slip through and keep the immune system on alert. That background inflammation feeds step 4 of every breakout.

Healthy vs. leaky gut lining
PubMed abstract, study 8

What it means: In adults, probiotics improved eczema severity. Results across all probiotic studies are mixed (a 2018 Cochrane review found little benefit), so they’re one helpful part of the plan, not the whole plan.

08 · The protocol

The 12-week Clear Skin Protocol.

Skin renews about every 4 weeks, so we work in three 4-week phases.*

Weeks 1–4Phase 1 · Clear

Lower the overgrowth and the triggers. Blood sugar and dairy reset begins.*

Weeks 5–8Phase 2 · Repair

Rebuild the lining, reseed good bacteria, load up on zinc and omega-3s.*

Weeks 9–12Phase 3 · Keep it clear

Test your triggers one at a time and lock in what works.*

Pick your path

PATH A

Breakouts + bloating

If you also deal with bloating, gas or irregular digestion, follow all three phases in order.
PATH B

Breakouts, digestion fine

Start the food reset on day 1 and begin at Phase 2 with the Gut Lining Reset for 8 weeks, then Phase 3.

09 · Weeks 1–4

Phase 1: Clear.

Microbiome Balance Formula

One AM pack with breakfast, one PM pack with dinner. Berberine and NAC to rebalance bacteria, ginger to restart the gut's cleaning wave, an 8-strain probiotic and 25 mg zinc.*
Shop the formula

The food reset (start now, keep through week 8)

1
Go low-glycemic. Protein at every meal, carbs with fat and fiber, no sugary drinks.
2
Take a dairy break. Milk, cheese, yogurt, whey and ice cream are out for now.
3
Lean lower-FODMAP if you bloat. See the Flat Belly Guide.
What to expect. Skin usually doesn't change much yet. Many people notice less bloating first.*

10 · Weeks 5–8

Phase 2: Repair.

Gut Lining Reset

One pouch a day with a meal. 1,500 mg L-glutamine, quercetin, aloe, marshmallow, slippery elm and a 10-strain probiotic with prebiotic fiber.*

Feed your skin

1
Omega-3s 2 to 3 times a week: salmon, sardines, mackerel, walnuts, ground flax.
2
Zinc foods: oysters, beef, pumpkin seeds, chickpeas.
3
Colorful plants daily.
Why no Colostrum here? It's a great gut product, but it's dairy-based. We keep it out so your dairy test stays clean.

11 · Weeks 9–12

Phase 3: Keep it clear.

1
Reintroduce one thing at a time. One dairy or higher-sugar food for 3 to 5 days. Watch your skin for a week.
2
Keep what works. If something brings breakouts back, it's your trigger.
3
Keep the gut foundations. Fermented foods, lots of plants, fish twice a week, good sleep.
4
Repeat when life adds load. After antibiotics, stress or travel.
The goal isn't a perfect diet. It's knowing your own triggers.

12 · Daily support

Your daily clear skin routine.

When Inside Outside
Morning Water. AM pack (Phase 1) with a protein breakfast Gentle cleanser, light moisturizer, SPF
Midday Low-glycemic lunch. Pouch with a meal (Phase 2) Hands off your face
Evening PM pack (Phase 1) with dinner Cleanse, then any prescribed treatment
Night 7 to 9 hours of sleep Clean pillowcase every few days
  • Manage stress. Stress hormones raise oil.
  • Don't pick. It drives inflammation deeper.
  • Shower soon after sweating.

13 · Food

Eat this, limit this.

For weeks 1 to 8.

✓ Eat freely

  • Eggs, fish, chicken, turkey
  • Salmon, sardines, mackerel
  • Leafy greens, broccoli, peppers
  • Berries, kiwi, citrus
  • Oats, quinoa, sweet potato
  • Pumpkin seeds, walnuts, olive oil
  • Unsweetened plant milks

✕ Limit for now

  • Milk, cheese, yogurt, whey
  • Soda, juice, sweet coffee drinks
  • White bread, pastries, cereal
  • Candy and desserts
  • Fried and ultra-processed snacks
  • Alcohol

14 · The honest part

What to expect.

Skin is slow. Give it the full 12 weeks.*

Weeks 1–4 · Clear
Inside first

Less bloating, steadier energy. Skin may look the same.*

Weeks 5–8 · Repair
Fewer new spots

Many notice fewer new breakouts and less redness.*

Weeks 9–12
The full picture

Compare photos from day 1.*

Take a photo on day 1 in the same light, then every 2 weeks.

15 · Safety first

When to see a dermatologist.

Book an appointment if you have

  • Deep, painful cysts or nodules
  • Breakouts that leave scars or dark marks
  • Sudden adult acne with irregular periods or new hair growth
  • No improvement after 3 months of consistent effort

Prescription treatments work, and this protocol can run alongside them.

Not for use during pregnancy or nursing, or under 18. Berberine can interact with some medications, so check with your doctor or pharmacist first.

16 · FAQ

Questions people ask.

Why is gut health linked to acne?Your gut sets the background level of inflammation in your body, and inflammation turns a clogged pore into a red, sore spot.
Do I have to quit dairy forever? No. Take 8 weeks off, then test it in Phase 3.
Can I use this with tretinoin or other treatments?Yes. Keep your routine and tell your doctor what you’re taking.
Why isn’t Colostrum in this protocol? It’s dairy-based, and we want your dairy test to be clean.
Will my skin purge? This isn’t a topical product, so the classic retinoid “purge” doesn’t apply.
What if I don't see a difference?Give it the full 12 weeks. Your first protocol is covered by the 30-Day Reset Guarantee.
